A Tour of the kibbutz’s business enterprises – Netafim and Jojoba Israel
We offer an enriching and unique tour of the kibbutz’s business enterprises, introducing participants to advanced agriculture and innovative technologies implemented at Netafim and Jojoba Israel. The tour includes fascinating lectures accompanied by films about Netafim – the world’s first and leading company in drip irrigation manufacturing, which spearheaded a global revolution in irrigation and fertilization as well as about the jojoba industry, a leader in the cultivation and production of jojoba oil that serves the global cosmetics industry.
Following the lecture, a guided tour will be held at the Netafim factory and its experimental plots, as well as at the jojoba plantations, introducing Netafim’s groundbreaking technologies that transformed the Negev desert into a flourishing, green, agricultural, and profitable region.
The tour can also include a guided visit to the Aragan plantation project, to explore the unique acclimatization and breeding processes of Aragan tree varieties in the desert – from which Moroccan cosmetic oil is produced – and their transformation into an innovative Israeli variety.
At the factory store in the Visitors Center, visitors can purchase high-quality products based on jojoba oil from Jojoba Hatzerim
When Art Meets the Desert – A Tour along the Sculpture Trail
When Art Meets the Desert – A Tour along the Sculpture Trail
“When Art Meets the Desert” is an enriching and creative tour along the Sculpture Trail,
combining a variety of activities.
The Sculpture Trail was established by the artists Marga and Israel Peishtain (z”l), members of Kibbutz Hazerim, together with JNF. Leading Israeli artists were invited to place their works along the roadside and on the hills, creating pieces that engage in dialogue with the desert environment.
The trail passes through a variety of sites, including archaeological sites, picnic groves, a breathtaking panoramic viewpoint, and a military camp from the Six-Day War. As part of the tour, we will learn and see in the field the significance of the desert afforestation project led by JNF.
In addition, the tour includes a visit to the jojoba fields, with the story of their cultivation and processing into oil for the cosmetics industry. It is worth noting that this tour can also be combined with other sites in the region, and at sunset it offers a truly spectacular view. The route is suitable for buses and includes options for stops along the way.
